The Astros also have a chance to become the first club in the Divisional Era (since 1969) to have an unbeaten postseason, joining the 1976 Reds (who played seven games). With 11-1 records, the 2005 White Sox and 1999 Yankees share the Wild Card Era record (since 1995).

When the Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres made a throwing error in the eighth inning of Game 4, the Astros were behind 5-4. The Astros had runners on first and second with one out instead of a double play to clear the bases, and both scored. Yordan Alvarez singled to tie the game, and Alex Bregman singled off Clay Holmes to bring home Pea with the winning run.

 

Bregman said, This team has worked so hard; Im so glad to be a part of it. so pleased with this bunch, and we still have more baseball to play. So many players stepped up this year — the coaching staff, our support staff, every single individual that had a hand in this.
