Damian Lillard, Blazers, leaves the game against the Heat due to a strained right calf
The Blazers’ top point guard was hurt at the conclusion of the third quarter of Portland’s game against Miami. A strained right calf caused Damian Lillard to leave Wednesday night’s Portland Trail Blazers game against the Miami Heat, but he claims the injury is not severe.
With just over the remaining five minutes in the third quarter, six-time All-Star Lillard limped and went directly to the locker room. He left, and the Blazers suffered a 119-98 defeat.
According to Lillard, the ailment did not require an MRI, but he is not expected to play when the Blazers host the Houston Rockets on Friday night. The following Wednesday, Portland then takes a break before playing home to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Lillard stated, “Now I just have to be smart, make sure I’m getting a number of treatment sessions each day, and just try to stretch it.” Therefore, I will likely not play that game on Friday. I’ll have six days to prepare for that one, possibly with two sessions on some days and three sessions on others. We shall see.
In three of the Blazers’ first four games this season, Lillard scored 30 points or more. Before leaving the game against the Heat, he had scored 22 points, the most of any player.
Before the game, he claimed he experienced calf discomfort, and he applied a compression sleeve at halftime. However, he added that he would have continued to play if it had been the playoffs.
For the Blazers, the injury—however minor—was concerning because Lillard missed 47 games of the previous season due to a persistent abdomen injury that necessitated surgery. He finally showed signs of being fit and quick in the first four games of this season.
It is early; We’ve had a successful start; Everything feels good. Since my second or third year, I haven’t felt this fantastic, he remarked. “I did so much this summer; it’s all piling up. I think swift and decisive; I never feel fatigued; I don’t want to lose that. I must therefore exercise patience and refrain from making assumptions.
The final unbeaten team in the Western Conference was Portland.
