Jarred Vanderbilt, additional insight into the value
There have been many rumors, and insights, into the trade talks that have taken place between the Utah Jazz and Atlanta Hawks. A few days ago, Charania reported that the Jazz was talking to the Atlanta Hawks about trade scenarios that could include Jarred Vanderbilt and Malik Beasley.
The deal would have sent Collins to Utah, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Malik Beasley to the Suns. It fell through when the Utah Jazz asked for multiple first-round picks. For Utah, getting fair compensation for what they are moving makes sense. It’s not the Jazz’s responsibility to help the Suns win a title on the cheap.
Michael Scotto provided more insight into the value the Jazz is asking for in a Jarred Vanderbilt deal.
According to rival executives, the Jazz views Vanderbilt as worth a first-round pick at a value because of his production, contract (signed for $4.7 million next season), & age (23). At the end of November, Beasley told the source that he wanted to stay in Utah and exercise his $16.5 million team option with the Jazz.
We will likely hear more rumors for the Jazz as we get closer to the trade deadline, and these types of rumors will give other GMs an asking price for a player. It’s looking more & more like the Utah Jazz will make a deal. The question is who is willing to outbid the Jazz’s high-rotation players.
