Who has the most Dpoy NBA all time?

The NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award is an annual award given to the best defensive player in the regular season by the National Basketball Association (NBA) since the 1982-83 season.

The winner was selected by a panel of 124 sports writers and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada, each of whom voted for first, second, and third place. Each first-place vote is worth five points, the second-place vote is worth three points, and the third-place vote is worth one point. The player with the highest total score will receive the award regardless of the number of votes for the first place.

Dikembe Mutombo and Ben Wallace have won the award four times each. Rudy Gobert and Dwight Howard have won the award three times, Howard has won the award for three consecutive seasons. Sidney Moncliffe, Mark Eaton, Dennis Rodman, Hakeem Olajuwon, Alonzo Mourning and Kawhi Leonard won twice each. The most recent winner is Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz.

Although five of the top six winners are outside players, traditionally this award is given to big men who can rebound and block shots. Only seven perimeter players were honored: Moncliffe, Alvin Robertson, Michael Cooper, Michael Jordan, Gary Payton, Ron Artest (now known as Metta Sandiford-Artest) and Kawhi Leonard. Payton is the only point guard to win. Jordan, Olajuwon, David Robinson, Kevin Garnett and Antetokounmpo are the only winners who have won the NBA Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) in their careers; Jordan, Ola Zhu Wang and Antetokounmpo won these two awards in the same season.

Take Olajuwon as an example. He is the only one who has won both the NBA Finals MVP Award and the NBA Championship. The Defensive Player of the Year winner has not been selected to the NBA All-Defensive First Team in the same year four times. Robertson in 1986, Mutombo in 1995, Tyson Chandler in 2012 and Marc Gasol in 2013 were selected as the second team. The best defensive player of the year was voted by the media, and the best defensive team was voted by NBA coaches before 2014. Michael Cooper and Marcus Camby are the only two winners who have never been selected to an All-Star.
