Later, he attended training camp with the Atlanta Hawks and was named to Shaw’s Pro Summer League roster. However, Haslem was dismissed by the Hawks before the 2002-03 NBA season, therefore ending his NBA career.

He then signed with Chalon-sur-Saône of the French LNB Pro A and spent a season there. His outstanding performance there helped him land a deal with the NBA.
