Atlético and Barcelona have revised Griezmann contract.

 

Antoine Griezmann is expected to permanently join Atlético next summer for a fee of up to €24 million (bonuses included) and agree to a new binding contract with him to the Civitas Metropolitano until 2027, according to multiple reports on Wednesday. FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are reportedly close to finalizing a new agreement for Griezmann.

 

David Medina of Marca reported on Friday that he had completed the agreement, and Griezmann’s new Atleti contract will be in effect until 2026.

 

Since the summer transfer window, reaching a new deal with Barcelona for Griezmann had been a top goal for Atlético. To avoid paying Barça a €40 million obligation to purchase next summer, Atleti leadership gave coach Diego Simeone. He has a good connection with Griezmann, the order to restrict the France star’s playing time when the season first started.

 

This commitment, agreed upon in August of last year, would have taken effect if, during his two-year loan, Griezmann had played a minimum of 45 minutes in 50% of the games for which he was eligible.
