Status of Devin Booker’s absence with the Suns
Things get worse.
Devin Booker, an All-Star named the NBA’s Player of the Month for the first six weeks of the season (Oct./Nov.), won’t be available for at least four weeks, if not longer, according to the Phoenix Suns.
Just over a week ago, Booker’s 58-point performance against New Orleans resulted in an initial groin injury that required him to miss the next three games. Monty Williams expressed regret for giving Booker more than 42 minutes of playing time in that game, and since then, he has only appeared in four games, leaving the Denver game on Christmas early.
Phoenix won their second game without him in six tries on Tuesday against Memphis, the first being at home against the Lakers on December 19. Of course, they appeared far better prepared to handle his absence than in nearly all of the other games he’d missed.
The 14 games in the four-week window to his following review begin with the final four contests of their longest-ever season-long road trip, a six-game outing. Within that 14-game schedule, they face playoff (top 6) teams seven times and play-in (7-10) teams four times.
Our ideal date is January 25, which falls on a day off between the Charlotte Hornets and the. Dallas Mavericks are a team where Booker might make a comeback.
Duane Washington Jr., who shone for them against Memphis, is the key to holding down the fort, but other guards who have missed time, including Cam Payne (foot) and Landry Shamet (Achilles), also need to bounce back quickly.
Although we don’t have the latest information regarding his schedule, Cam Johnson has been spotted at shootarounds, practices, and putting in pregame work, so he might also be making a return soon. Since he last played on November 4, his “1-2 month” timetable is approaching the 2-month mark, which indicates that the cavalry may arrive soon.
