Houston Rockets Fall following a Loss Streak
The up-and-down season of the Houston Rockets is now in progress.
Before Wednesday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls, the Rockets had lost five straight games after winning four of their previous six.
The Rockets dropped two spots in the most recent Rookie Wire power rankings due to their current slump. Although Houston fell from No. 25 to No. 27, Jabari Smith Jr.’s play against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday was praised.
However, according to Cody Taylor of Rookie Wire, “Rookie Jabari Smith Jr. recorded a career-high 24 points and ten rebounds during their last outing.” He is one of only three rookies this season to have at least 20 points and ten rebounds in a game.
Young player development for the Rockets will always be seen favorably, win, lose, or draw, and Smith has stepped up his game after a sluggish start. The Rockets will have more faith that their No. 3 overall pick from this year’s draft can be a significant part of their future if he can keep displaying glimpses, which might earn him a spot on the All-Rookie First Team.
Before traveling to Dallas to take on the Mavericks on Thursday and hosting the New York Knicks on New Year’s Eve, Smith and the Rockets are in action tonight on the road against the Boston Celtics.
