Early Life, Family, And Education

Start with the essential facts. Josh was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on September 1, 1998, to parents Pius Okogie and Anthonia Okogie.

When he was only three years old, he was sent to the United States. Before that, they lived in Nigeria by themselves.

He grew up with his four brothers and sisters, Evaristus, Nathaniel, Rachael, and Emmanuel. Josh is the family’s fourth child.

At this point, the whole family lived in Snellville, Georgia. He first played basketball when he was only eleven years old.

He went to school at Shiloh High School. Nathaniel, a year older than he was, played soccer at Brewton-Parker College.

Josh used to play football as well, but not the organized kind. He played the piano, fiddle, and tuba very well. He does like good music. And you say his name with a sharp “Oh-ko-Gee.”

High School Career

Josh got the Gwinnett Daily Post’s Player of the Year award for two years in a row, in 2015 and 2016. This is one of his high school honors and achievements.

In 2016, he was put on the first team for the Atlanta Tipoff Club. He was also named an All-State player by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 2017.

Josh also helped his high school team win the Region 8-AAAAAA title with a 24-6 record.

As a senior in 2015-16, he scored 19.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 4.9 steals per game. In 2014, he made it to the state semi-finals.

College Career

Josh went to the Georgia Institute of Technology to study and play sports. He got 16.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in his first year. So, in 2016, he got to play on the ACC All-Freshman Team.

He was named to the 2017–18 All-ACC team in his second year. On November 26, 2016, he led his team to a win over Tulane. At Georgia Tech, Josh averaged 18.2 points per game for his team.

After that, on May 21, he said he would be in the 2018 NBA draught. He did not hire an agency, though. So, if none of the teams picked him, he could return to college.

He also has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, which he got from Georgia Tech.

Professional Career

When it came to his career, the Minnesota Timberwolves hired him with the 20th overall pick in the 1st round of the 2018 NBA draft, less than a month after he said he wanted to be in the draft. He gave up on his two years of college all at once.

The fact that he was picked in the first round was great news, but it also put weight on Josh. He also talked about it.

After Jimmy Buttler, Josh was the last man to be put in the team’s starting lineup in November of last year. During the 2018 season, he only played for 22 minutes. After that, he got involved with the 2019 NBA Summer League.

Josh was also announced as a part of the 2019 Rising Stars Challenge on January 29, 2019.

Okogie joined the Phoenix Suns on July 2, 2022. Okogie had his best game ever on December 7, when he scored 28 points in a 125–98 loss to the Boston Celtics.

International Career

Josh also played basketball for the Nigerian national team and participated in the 2019 FiIBA Basketball Worldcup.

Personal Life

Fans of Okogie must be perplexed, but there is no gossip about his current or past relationships.

We didn’t find any information that has been talked about a lot on the internet, like Josh’s girlfriend or seeing someone often.

Well, that’s not all. It’s also hard to believe that a young, beautiful, charming guy like him has no hook-ups.

He might be putting all of his attention on his job and goals. He doesn’t want to think about anything else right now.

And Josh is happy with how his life is going. Things will happen when they have to.

Recently, he stayed in the news. After all, he did everything he could to help George Floyd, who died when an officer killed him by putting his knee on his neck for nine to ten minutes because he was using a fake bill.

He went to the gathering to say that what happened to George Floyd was wrong and could happen to any black person. So, the main goal was to get rid of racial discrimination.

Karl-Anthony Towns, another great player from the Minnesota Timberwolves, also stayed for the rally. He was already hurting because of his mother’s terrible loss.

At 58, his mother died after fighting the coronavirus for about 45 days. He also played on Okogie’s team.

Career as a Philanthropist

Josh has also recently been in the news because he gave all his earnings to END SARS, a group fighting against police brutality in Nigeria. The Special Anti-Robbery Squad is known as SARS.

Age, Horoscope, and Body Measurement

In 2020, Josh will be 22 years old. He was born in September, which makes his sun sign Virgo.

And, just like Virgo, he is artistic, trustworthy, and hard-working. Josh knows that working hard always pays off in some way. So, he thinks it’s essential to work hard.

Josh is also about 6 feet, 3 inches tall, and weighs about 213 pounds. His body is built for sports, and it’s perfect for the ones he plays.

He is a good dribbler because he has long arms and big hands. To stay healthy, he keeps going to the gym and watching what he eats.

Net Worth, Salary, and Contract

Josh is one of the youngest people in his field. It’s only been two years since he got his first job. But even so, he has done a great job with his life. He made the third team of All-ACC players for the 2018 season.

Josh has a house and many cars, which are his belongings. In one of his Instagram posts, he and his mother stand in front of the house.

We can’t say if it’s his house, but it might be.

Online sources say that Josh has signed a contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves for 2018. This will give him an average yearly salary of $2,487,480. In 2021, though, his average base pay will be $2,771,040.

Also, “as of 2023, Josh Okogie has a total net worth of $8 million,”

Josh’s life is also full of fun and strange things. He has not stopped doing something simple. He keeps going to new places. He likes excitement, surfs in nature, and moves with his friends to places where they can be outside.

Look at one of the pictures he posted on Instagram of him relaxing at the pool.

Dell was a pro basketball player who played in the NBA from 1986 to 2002. He was her father. And her mother, Sonya, played volleyball for a living.

You wouldn’t be wrong to say that her parents taught her to love the sport. Also, you might be surprised to learn that Sydle started playing volleyball when she was only five.

She went to Elon University and played volleyball there. In 2016, she was named the Team MVP. During the National Champion Tournament, which the US Youth Volleyball Association put on, Sydel got a golden boot for having the most assists.

She learned Sydel got her degree in Psychology from Elon University. But because of her injuries, she couldn’t keep playing volleyball after college.

      Professional Career

Sydel used to play volleyball, as we already said. During her career, she has also won CISAA All-Conference four times.

Even though her career was short, lasting from 2009 to 2012, she won some important awards, including a golden boot.

She was also chosen to be on the NCISAA all-state team twice, in 2011 and 2012. Sydell went to the nationals in 2012 and played for the Carolina Union.

Sydel played volleyball for the university team even after she finished. Several times, her college team put on great shows. But because of accidents, she could no longer play volleyball.

In 2014, Sydel got hurt during practice and was given a red shirt. She had broken her ACL, which is short for the anterior cruciate ligament.

In 2017, Mrs. Lee’s knee popped out of place again. Sydel couldn’t play volleyball anymore because of her injuries. So, she had to stop playing volleyball and go in a different direction with her life.
