Who will win the 2022 MVP?

  • Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks)

He finished fourth and sixth the last two years, and enters his age 23 season as the focal point of a team expected to take the next step with him leading the way. Doncic’s usage and volume (and talent, of course) will keep him toward the top of this race all year, barring injury.

If Dallas improves, Doncic will end up being among the top NBA MVP candidates this season. The team’s struggles are not on him. Doncic is the most favorite to win the title of NBA 2022 MVP.

Favorites to win 2022 MVP

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks)

Giannis is fresh off his first NBA title, and while the Bucks lost a few key pieces in the offseason, they should be near the Eastern Conference again. He will be in the mix.

  • Kevin Durant (Brooklyn Nets)

Durant certainly plays at an MVP-caliber level when he’s on the court, and he set a career high in effective field goal percentage last year. He is still the most feared scorer in the league, and the MVP race is so tied to offensive output.

  • Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors)

Steph won’t see the same usage this season, if things go right for the Warriors. He finished third in MVP voting last season.

  • Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets)

The defending champ entered last season at 25-1 to win MVP, and while it’s unlikely he repeats, he’s getting a little more love this season.

  • LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

Throughout the early stages of the 2020-21 season, James was a top-end candidate for this individual award. Unfortunately, an ankle injury cost him 27 games. During a truncated 72-game schedule, this was enough for him to be ignored.
