Ja Morant stuns his teammates
Ja Morant produced a phenomenal slam dunk contender of the year and stunned his teammates Saturday night as the Grizzlies eased past the Pacers 130-112.
Morant has been on fire recently, helping Memphis to a nine-game winning streak, currently the longest in the NBA.
He had 23 points and ten assists against the Pacers on Saturday, but all the headlines will be for a remarkable moment in the third quarter when he dunked on Jalen Smith to put his team ahead by 20. point.
He came from the right field, rushed to the basket, leaped high over opponents, and dunked with one hand while his teammates watched.
The Grizzlies are now 29-13, tied with Denver for the best in the division, Morant leading the charge, and they continue to be in good form.
Desmond Bane, though, was Memphis’ top scorer on Saturday, scoring two more than Morant with a record 25 points in Indianapolis.
However, Bane & Morant did not need it in the fourth quarter, as Memphis led by as many as 34 pts in the fourth quarter.
The game tie in the second quarter before Memphis outscored the Pacers 27-11 for a 68-52 halftime lead. During that time, Morant had five points and four assists.
Santi Aldama added 17 points for the Grizzlies, and Ziaire Williams added 13.
Backup guard Chris Duarte scored 25 points for the Pacers. Rookie Bennedict Mathurin had 16 points, and T.J. McConnell had 13.
