Miami had to go straight to the last second but beat the Suns at home for their third straight win. The Miami Heat improved to 7-7 on the season and moved into third place in the Southeast Division on Tuesday, two games behind the Hawks in contention for the top spot in the division.
The Miami Heat trailed by 13 with 8:03 left but outscored the Phoenix Suns 24-10 for the win. Bam Adebayo made two free throws with 35 seconds left to give Miami the lead, then fended off a Suns 3-pointer on the final possession for the win. Miami Heat shot 45 percent from the field, including 15 of 33 from 3-point range, & won the game at the free-throw line.
The Miami Heat made 22 of 25 field goal attempts, while the Suns made just two of four. Adebayo led the Heat to victory with 30 points and ten rebounds.
Toronto shot four of six on Monday night after losing two in a row before finishing off the road with a win over the Pistons. The Raptors entered Tuesday night at 8-7 on the season, second in the Atlantic Division and 3.5 games behind the Boston Celtics for the division leaders. The Raptors led by 11 points after three quarters, only to see the Pistons cut the deficit to within one midway through the fourth quarter before regrouping for the win. Toronto shot 48.8 percent from the field, including 8-for-27 from 3-point range and 27-for-28 from the free-throw line.
Miami is on a three-game winning streak in this tournament, and apart from Herro’s injury, they’re healthy. Meanwhile, the Raptors had dropped four of six games before beating the Pistons on Monday night. That could prove to be a challenge, as the Toronto Raptors can’t afford to try and rely on secondary or tertiary options offensively against a Miami team with weapons like Adebayo and Butler leading the way. Miami has momentum, and they’re the better, not to mention the healthier team right now. Take the Heat, for example; they have won four consecutive victories.
