Hsieh Su-wei and Barbora Strýcová were the defending champions when the competition was last held in 2019. Despite wishing to bid farewell to Wimbledon, Strikova retired from professional tennis in May 2021 and did not participate in the competition.
Hsieh and Elise Mertens fought side by side and successfully defended their title, defeating Veronika Kudermetova and Elena Vesnina 3-6, 7-5, 9-7 in the final. It is worth noting that their victory was achieved after saving two championship points.
Mertens reached the final, surpassing Barbora Krejčíková (Barbora Krejčíková), and won the WTA doubles ranking. Kristina Mladenovic also participated in the competition, but lost in the first round.
Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Samantha Stosur tried to complete the professional Grand Slam in doubles, but lost in the second and first rounds respectively.
