MEN’S US
Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev will face off in the U.S. Open final. Djokovic is searching for his record breaking 21st men’s Grand Slam singles title. And He is looking for the first calendar year Grand Slam since Steffi Graf in 1988 and the first on the men’s side since Rod Laver in 1969.
Daniil Medvedev delivered a performance for the ages in the US Open final to claim his first major singles title over Novak Djokovic, who was attempting to win the Grand Slam.
Another win and Djokovic arguably reinforce his claim as the greatest men’s tennis player of all time. There’s no argument from Zverev, who saw why Djokovic is here on the doorstep of history in Men’s US.
WOMEN’S US
Emma Raducanu is yet to drop a set the 2021 US Open and that includes qualifying. The 18 year old beat Stefanie Voegele, Zhang Shuai, Sara Sorribes Tormo, Shelby Rogers, Belinda Bencic and Maria Sakkari in straight sets en route to the final.
Leylah Fernandez’s US Open form has been nothing short of amazing when you take into account the players she has taken out. She came from a set down to beat defending champion Naomi Osaka in the third round, three-time major winner Angelique Kerber was beaten in the fourth round, fifth Elina Svitolina was taken out in the quarter-final and world No.2 Aryna Sabalenka was sent packing in the semi-final.
