Terrence James Elijah Ross is an American pro basketball member for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on February 5, 1991. He played his college basketball career for the Washington Huskies, where he was named to the first team of All-Pac-12. The Toronto Raptors took him in the eighth round of the 2012 NBA draught.

Family and Early Life

Terrence James Elijah Ross, better known by his stage name Terrence Ross, was born on February 5, 1991, in Portland, Oregon. He is one of Terry Ross and Marcine Parker’s three kids.

Terry, his father, played men’s basketball in the Continental Basketball Association and won the Slam-Dunk Award with the Tri-City in 1995. Marcine Ross, his mother, also played basketball when she was young.

Ross was born and raised in a family of athletes, so it makes sense that his parents gave him an interest in sports.

He started playing basketball when he was young and is now entitled as one of the best players in the world. 

Ross was just as good at school as anyone else. He got a GPA of 3.7 in college.

High School Career

Ross attended the first and second high school years at Jefferson High School in Portland, Oregon.

For his junior year, he spent time at Montrose Christian School in Rockville, Maryland, from 2008 to 2009. Then, he scored 13.5 points per game on average and made the All-Metro first team.

ESPN thought he was a four-star recruit, and in 2010 he was listed as the No. 5 small forwards and No. 30 player.

College Career

After finishing high school, Ross went to Washington University. During his first year with the Huskies, he played about 34 games and had about 8.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assists.

In the 2011 Pac-10 Tournament, he averaged 15.3 points and 2.7 boards per game and was named to the All-Tournament team.

Ross was also named to the first team of All-Pac-12 players during his junior year. He helped Washington enter the 2012 National Invitation Tournament semi-finals by scoring 25 points and getting 5.5 rebounds per game.

Professional Career

Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors took Terrence Ross with the eighth pick in the NBA draught of 2012. In July 2012, he signed a first-year deal with the Toronto Raptors.

In February 2013, Ross beat Jeremy Evans in the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest.

In January 2014, he scored 51 points against the Los Angeles Clippers, which was his career high and tied the team record. Ross scored 50 points, making him the first player in NBA history to do so. He averaged about 10 points per game. 

In the same way, he scored 27 points against the Detroit Pistons in February 2016 to set a new season high. He got his first double-double against the Brooklyn Netts when he scored 24 points and grabbed ten rebounds.

Also, he scored 19 points against the Miami Heat in the conference semi-final, the most he had ever scored in the playoffs.

Ross scored a new season-high 25 points in a 122-100 win over the Milwaukee Bucks in December 2016.

Orlando Magic

In February 2017, Terrence Ross was sent to the Orlando Magic in a trade.

Ross scored 24 points in a win over the Atlanta Hawks. He had the most points in the game. In November 2017, he scored 22 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves, his season high.

Then, in February 2019, he beat the Timberwolves with 32 points and six 3-pointers in a win. Ross was the first player in the 2018-19 regular season to score 200 three-pointers.

He averaged 15.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists by the end of the 2020-21 season. Ross played for Orlando Magic in 63 games during the 2021-22 season. He averaged 10 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.2 blocks per game.

As of April 2023, he has played 36 games during the 2022-23 season, scoring 8.3 pts, 2.1 rebs, 1.4 assists, and 0.2 blocks per game.
