Early Life, Family & Education

Melanie Shamet was very happy when her son Landry was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on March 13, 1997.

Melanie went to Biose State University because her volleyball skills earned her a grant. Melanie was a great volleyball player in Missouri in the year 1989.

Her mother had Landry without planning to. She did say that his son saved him, though. Landry’s mother had strict rules for him when he was growing up. He always had to be honest, and they had to stick together.

But Landry and his mother were never alone, even though they had no father. He could also look up to other wise people.

Landry and his mother also lived with Dennis and Patti Shamet, Landry’s grandparents, until he was four years old.

When he was a little older, they also briefly lived with his Auntie Janell and Uncle Tyler.

Landry’s uncle Tyler changed his life in an excellent way. Like an older brother, he was there for him.

Dennis, Shamet’s grandfather, showed him how to keep his right arm still when making jump shots.

Landry was also cared for by his grandmother and great-grandmother while his mother worked at the Harrah’s Hotel Casino. As a child, he had many people to look out for him.

Bankruptcy

While Shamet was in middle school, his mum sold their house and got an apartment near his grandparents.

Melanie, his mother, worked late while Landry ate dinner with his grandparents, went home, and took care of himself.

Also, a few months after moving in, a letter came with the mistake made when the house was bought. Because of this, the monthly payment went up to $300.

Three years later, his mother went bankrupt under Chapter 7 and moved in with his grandparents until they found a new place. Things for them slowly got better.

Landry’s Father

Landry and his mom never talked about his father, but one day, she found him on Facebook and wanted to get in touch with him and give him a chance. But he said he wouldn’t be there for them.

Even now, Landry only has a few close friends. He only needs his family and close friends around him.

Landry then went on to say-

“They did a great job filling that hole. My mum and I get along well. We went through some tough times, just like every other family does. In this case, there is no father. I didn’t miss my father, though.”

The horoscopes say that Landry is a Pisces. People born under the sign of Pisces are kind and willing to help others.

We can see these traits in Landry as he gets older. He cared a lot about other people, especially those younger than him.

Caring for younger kids at his grandmother’s daycare made it easy to see what kind of person he was.

Age, Height, and Body Measurements

Also, Landry turned 26 years old in the year 2023. He is about 1.93 m tall (6’4″) and weighs about 85 kgs (188 lb).

Education

Landry attended Park Hill High School in Kansas City, where he got his schooling. He started playing basketball when he was only two years old. He kept playing through high school and even played for his school’s basketball team.

David Garrison was his coach at school. His teacher said Landry had learned to turn his negative thoughts about himself into motivation.

Also, Landry became well-known at his school during his junior year, when Shamet took over a game where college coaches were there to watch Kevin Puryear, a highly ranked forwards on the other team.

Several well-known schools took notice of how well he played during the game. Landry decided to attend Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas.

Career and Profession

College Career

Landry only played three games during his first year at Wichita State University because he hurt his foot.

Even though Shamet only played in three games, he became the best rookie point guard in the country and quickly set himself up to be the point guard for the Wichita State Shockers in his sophomore year.

During his rookie year, he won the MVC Rookie of the Year award and was entitled to the MVC First Team All-Conference.

Also, going into his second year, Laundry was named to the AAC Preseason First Team. Before the season, he was among fifty players on the Wooden Award watch list.

Shamet was one of only two sophomores on the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 list for 2018.

He made 30 points, which was his career high, and helped Wichita State beat Oklahoma State on December 9, 2017.

He also led the AAC in a number of different ways. Every year that Laundry played, he also helped the Shockers get to the NCAA Tournament.

Gregg Marshall, who leads the Wichita State Shockers and is one of the most demanding college basketball coaches, says that:

He came here to shoot jump shots. That’s what he’s good at. But he changed and became a star guard who could run a team and pass the ball around.

Shamet signed up for the 2018 NBA draught after his second season.

Professional Career

Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers picked Laundry with the 26th pick in the 2018 NBA draught. During the 2018 preseason, he showed how good he was by scoring 18 points in a win over the Dallas Mavericks.

His second impressive game was when he scored 12 points against Orlando in just 19 minutes during a win.

In a triumph over the Washington Wizards on January 8, 2019, he scored a career-high 29 points and set a rookie record with eight three-pointers.

He continued by saying-

“For me, what only matters are getting better. I didn’t surprise myself. I know what I can do well and that I can do more. There’s always more because there were better forms of Landry Shamet.

Los Angeles Clippers

In return for Shamet, the Philadelphia 76ers sent Boban Marjanovic, Tobias Harris, and Mike Scott to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Lawrence Frank, who is the President of Basketball Operations, said –

“We also like Landry, who was picked in the first round of Wichita State. He has only shown what we already know. He quickly won a spot in the Philadelphia 76ers’ rotation, and since then, he has been the most accurate three-point shooter among this year’s rookies.

Landry’s first game with the Clippers was another chance to showcase his skills.

During the game against the Boston Celtics, he got 17 points, 13 of which came in the fourth quarter.

In a game against the Warriors, Landry got 12 points and won the game with a three-point shot, which helped the Clippers win.

Unfortunately, Landry tested positive for COVID-19 on July 4, 2020, and couldn’t join the team.

Also, Shamet only played for six minutes in the first quarter of game seven and rolled his ankle.

The Clippers were kicked out of the event by the NBA because they lost to the Denver Nuggets in the NBA playoffs.

His average from the field was 29.2%, and he scored 2.9 points per game.

Brooklyn Nets

On November 19, 2020, the pro basketball player was sent to the Brooklyn Nets.

Phoenix Suns

On August 6, 2021, Shamet was sent to the Phoenix Suns in a trade.

Net Worth

Landry is one of the NBA’s up-and-coming stars. He is said to have signed a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers worth $5.7 million, with an average pay of $1.9 million.

Also, Shamet was the team’s 12th highest-paid player.

Shamet paid about $1.95 million when he played for the Los Angeles Clippers. Landry’s pay will likely be between $1.9 million and $3.7 million from 2020 to 2022.

Landry Shamet likely has a net worth of around $2 million.

Girlfriend

One of the NBA’s most famous players just started his job in 2018, and he is putting more effort into it. The most common question about this growing NBA star is whether or not they are single.

Well, no, because Landry is dating Cameron Aimonetti right now. Cameron got a degree in Business Administration from the University of San Diego.

Aimonetti is a real estate agent for The Corcoran Group at the moment. She was also head of her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and a member of the business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi and the Real Estate Society.
