Damion Lee is an NBA basketball player for the Phoenix Suns. He is from the United States. In 2022, he won an NBA title with the Golden State Warriors.
Lee attended high school in Towson, Maryland, and finished at Calvert Hall College High School. In his last year, he was named to the Baltimore Sun’s All-Metro Second Team and the All-Baltimore Catholic League First Team.
Lee started as a point guard for the Drexel Dragons men’s basketball team in his first year, 2011–12. He averaged 12 points and 4.4 boards during that season. He was entitled the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Year because he did well in his first year of college.
The following year, Lee was named to the Second Team All-CAA after leading Drexel in scoring and ending third in the CAA with an average of 17.1 pts per game. He was also 2nd in the CAA in free throw percentage (82.9%) and fourth in three-pointers made per game (2.3).
Lee told Drexel University on March 30, 2015, that he would leave after his fifth and final year. ESPN thought he was the best college basketball player to switch teams.
Lee joined the Miami Heat for the 2016 NBA Summer League after not being picked in the 2016 NBA draught. He joined the Boston Celtics on September 26, 2016. He played in two exhibition games for the Celtics before being cut on October 20.
On October 31, he joined the NBA Development League’s Maine Red Claws as a Celtics reserve player. Lee played about 16 games for the Claws, but on August 24, 2017, he was sent to the NBA G League’s Santa Cruz Warriors.
Lee signed a two-way deal with the Golden State Warriors on July 14, 2018. This meant that he could go back to the Santa Cruz Warriors. On October 28, Lee had a career-high 23 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists in a 134–123 road win over the New Orleans Pelicans. This was his first double-double in his career.
Lee scored 12 points and hit the game-winning three-point shot in a 129–128 win over the Chicago Bulls on December 27, 2020. He helped the Warriors won the NBA Finals in 2022.
Lee joined the Phoenix Suns on July 7, 2022. In his first game with the Phoenix Suns, he helped them beat the Dallas Mavericks 107–105 with 11 points, two rebounds, two assists, and an off-balance jumper from the floor that won the game.
