Donte DiVincenzo was born in Newark, Delaware.

 

He is the son of John DiVincenzo & Kathie DiVincenzo. Kathie is a real estate agent. Donte had a reasonably good childhood in Newark, attending an all-boys Roman Catholic independent school.

In DiVincenzo’s high school career, he averaged 15.8 pts, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in his junior year. During his senior year, Donte averaged 22.9 points, nine rebounds, and four assists per game.

And Donte led his team to two straight state championships, which made him even more famous. Before going to college, he was already considered one of the best players in the school.

 

Likewise, he was named Men’s Basketball Player of the Year for his performance by the Delaware Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association in 2015.

 

College Life

Donte attended Villanova University & joined the Wildcats after high school. Unfortunately, he played just nine games before suffering a foot injury that kept him sidelined throughout his first season.

 

However, he had 19 points, three rebounds, and two assists in a 70-57 win over St. John’s in January 2017. In his freshman redshirt season, he averaged 8.8 pts and 3.8 rebounds. He averaged a season-high 25 points per game in March of that year in a rematch, improving against St. John’s.

 

Donte joined the Big East-All Freshman team that same season. Likewise, he was named one of the Big Five rookies of the year in Philadelphia. Soon after, he scored a career-high 31 pts in the final against Michigan to capture the NCAA title.

 

As such, he earns a spot on the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player list. After winning his second NCAA Tournament title, his decision to enter the 2018 NBA Draft took his confidence to a new level.

 

On April 19, he announced that he would enter the draft without an agent, ensuring his return to Villanova should he not be drafted. However, he changed his mind & hired an agent for the draft. As a result, he ended his two-year eligibility with the Wildcats.

 

 

Professional Career

The Milwaukee Bucks selected Donte with the 17th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. He was the second of four Villanova players drafted that year. Unfortunately, he missed most of his rookie game due to a foot injury.

DiVincenzo ignited the field with a stellar performance in his second season. In early November, he scored a career-high 17 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves. That same season, he became the third-best defensive player in the league.

 

DiVincenzo suffered another foot injury during the 2020-2021 season against the Miami Heat. As a result, he missed all rested games, including the NBA Finals. However, in 2021 he won his first championship ring with the Bucks.
