Snyder’s co-ownership might be ousted for “possibly” 24 votes

It’s “in the great interest of the National Football League,” he said, adding that “I feel there is validity to removing him as the owner of the [Commanders],” but he claimed there wouldn’t be a vote on Tuesday. To remove Snyder from office, 24 out of the 32 owners would need to vote.

Irsay thinks it would be wise to eliminate the troubled and controversial co-owner. Irsay isn’t frightened by Snyder’s alleged claim that he has enough “dirt” on rival owners and commissioner Roger Goodell. I don’t know about it, he said. I don’t give a damn. You are free to look into me till the cows come home. Private detectives or anything else won’t make me back down because of it.

A congressional committee and the league are investigating several accusations of widespread workplace misbehavior against Snyder. The co-owner has previously received a $10 million fine and punishments from the NFL due to an earlier inquiry.

Both the congressional inquiry and the current league investigation are continuing.

“Some of what I’ve heard doesn’t even really resemble us. Irsay told to a source, “I want the American public to know what we’re about as owners. I believe that dealing with issue head-on is in the best interests of the National Football League.

The inquiry by the Committee on Oversight and Reform of the U.S. House of Representatives started in October 2021, more than a year after the Washington Post published a story on July 20 that described the workplace sexual harassment 15 former workers of the business suffered.

The alleged misconduct, however, went beyond that particular report. Another piece from The Post from 2020 described how a former top executive instructed staff member to make a behind-the-scenes video for Snyder. The movie featured clips of team cheerleaders half-clothed during a 2008 team swimsuit calendar photo session.

The Post also previously claimed that “lawyers and private investigators working on Snyder’s behalf took steps that potential witnesses. It is viewed as attempts to interfere with the NFL’s investigation,” citing several alleged attempts to intervene. It includes filing petitions to identify employees who had spoken to The Post and reaching a $1.6 million settlement with a previous employee who accused the co-owner of sexual misconduct.

In a memo published in February, members of the Committee on Oversight and Reform claimed that Snyder had engaged private investigators for his investigation. But had also “misused federal court subpoena power to collect private emails, call records, and conversations in an attempt to find the origins of the Washington Post’s exposés, discredit their credibility, and defame their intentions.”

According to a source from last week, Snyder allegedly engaged private detectives to dig into Goodell and numerous team owners.

After Irsay made his public remarks, a Commanders spokeswoman told Sports Illustrated that it was “very improper, but not surprising,” that Irsay chose to base his public words on fabrications in the media. Regrettably, Mr. Irsay made his comments public today while an ongoing inquiry, and the team hasn’t had a chance to refute the accusations adequately.

The previous two years have seen the Commanders advance stunningly. We are convinced that Mr. Irsay will decide there is no justification for the Snyders to consider selling the franchise once he has the chance to review the evidence in this case. They also won’t.

Later, Goodell confirmed that there is no estimated completion date for the inquiry and that it is currently underway. They expressed Irsay’s opinion, and when asked whether he was offended about it, Goodell responded, “No,” but he added, citing Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, “speculation without facts is not a very constructive thing to do.”

Public disclosure of the report is planned.
