The Lakers will finally add $174 million worth of combined talent
The LA Lakers has been linked to a trade for Indiana Pacers duo Myles Turner and Buddy Hield over the summer, but so far nothing has materialized.
But according to Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey, there’s still hope for a deal to happen and he only has the trade proposal to make it happen. The store looks like this:
LA Lakers get: Buddy Hield and Myles Turner
Indiana Pacers Get: Russell Westbrook, 2027 first-round pick, and 2029 first-round pick
“Unloading Russell is probably worth at least one first. If the Lakers can get two points for the other, then this should be skipped. In this case, the two veterans who can presumably be acquired from Indiana fit perfectly alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Hield’s high-volume and high-efficiency 3-point shooting would help anywhere, and Turner would allow AD to stay at the 4 without sacrificing the defensive identity that helped L.A. win the title in 2020,” Bailey wrote on September 19 in his article.
Both Turner and Hield are reliable shooters at the rim, which creates a huge hole on the Lakers’ roster, while Turner’s size and rebounding give the Lakers a true center to pair with Anthony Davis moving forward.
The Lakers are “related” to both draft picks
Jovan Buha of The Athletic reported on May 24 that the Lakers are hesitant to include draft compensation in a deal to offload Westbrook because they are aware that they have limited assets to rebuild the roster if LeBron James eventually calls time. please illustrious career.
“League sources say they have no intention of using a first-round pick to facilitate the Westbrook trade at this time,” Buha reported.
In addition, Buha previously noted that the Lakers still believe Westbrook can succeed in the purple and gold: “Some within the franchise believe that the right coach and a better supporting cast can smooth over Westbrook’s woes. With James and Davis.”
However, Los Angeles’ recent additions of Patrick Beverley and Dennis Schroder may have changed the Lakers front office’s stance on Westbrook’s future – after all, a lot can happen in the NBA between May and September.
The Lakers came close to trading Westbrook
A bombshell report from The Atheltic’s Sam Amick and Jovan Buha on Sept. 16 revealed that the Lakers nearly agreed to move on Russell Westbrook as part of a four-team blockbuster deal, but talks stalled and the deal never materialized.
In trade talks, the Lakers would have acquired Bojan Bogdanovic and Terry Rozier while shedding the superstar guard and the media baggage that comes with it, according to the report.
According to league sources, the Lakers discussed a four-team trade with Utah, New York and Charlotte before trading down to Donovan-Mitchell-Cleveland. One early iteration of the four-team deal would have seen Bojan Bogdanović and Terry Rozier return to Los Angeles,” Amick and Buha reported.
Both Bogdanovic and Rozier are reliable three-point shooters who bring other skills to the table, and their impact on the Lakers’ roster would be similar to what Hield and Turner could add as such, the fact that this trade is for completion was approaching. would add more weight to Bailey’s trade proposal, and the potential for a similar deal would eventually get over the line.
