First NBA team to reach 150 points this season: Sacramento Kings

 

The Sacramento Kings are determined to end their 16-year postseason skid this year. The franchise is eager to end the streak because it is the longest in the history of the NBA. Mike Brown was appointed to fill the position this offseason, and so far, he has the squad playing some good basketball.

 

That postseason drought will almost certainly end if the Kings consistently perform at a level like what they did on Tuesday night against the Brooklyn Nets. Sacramento thrashed Brooklyn 153–121 on national television.

 

 

 

 

According to Marcus J. Spears, the Kings are now the first club to surpass the 150-point threshold this season. The Kings last scored 154 points in a game, a 154-99 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in 1993, over 30 years ago. The Cincinnati Royals’ 153 points fell shy of their franchise record of 165 points, which was set on March 12th, 1970, against the San Diego Rockets.

 

It took the entire team to destroy the Nets. The Kings made 21 of 25 free throw attempts and shot 59.6 percent from the field overall, including 20 of 41 from 3-point range. Four players finished the game with a plus/minus of +30 or above, including Damontas Sabonis, who had the team’s best plus/minus of +44.

 

Terence Davis blazed a trail for 31 points off the bench as seven other players scored double figures. Keegan Murray, a rookie, was the lone starter who failed to reach double digits in scoring. He entered the game for 12 minutes before leaving due to a back ailment. There was no need to hurry him back into a route. Thus, the score probably played a role in the Kings holding him out.

 

Kevin Durant was the only Nets player who displayed any life outside of extended garbage time. The fact that he had 27 points, four rebounds, and six assists made him the star of the show. Ben Simmons’ effort, which included a season-high 11 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and one steal, was another positive development for the Nets.
