Crowder Is ‘Same As Ever’ regardless of Anonymous GM Bashing Suns
Despite what an NBA general manager thinks, Jae Crowder is still an attractive trade option heading into the February 9 deadline.
According to the source (starts at 1:05), teams around the league say Crowder remains “as desirable as ever” in trade talks.
The source said Crowder was a player who “changed the culture” for multiple teams throughout his NBA career, including the past two seasons with the Phoenix Suns.
Crowder’s reported trade value came from an unknown general manager who stole him for deciding to stay away from the Suns until he moved on.
“He just didn’t show up,” the GM told the source. “He said he’s not playing unless Crowder gets a contract extension he wants. I think that in and of itself turns off many teams. Like, ‘What? You don’t want to play. You’re worth it for one of the best teams in the NBA, and PROVE so you can get a contract next year. You don’t look good, Bro. What are you doing?’ It’s a weird dynamic. It’s one thing if Durant’s holding out because he’s not getting paid enough, but Crowder? Seriously?”
The Phoenix Suns said in a statement released on September 25 that Crowder will not be with the team during training camp. Crowder followed up with a post on Twitter stating that he doesn’t think the organization likes him.
There were rumors that Crowder was upset because he wasn’t guaranteed a starting role, but he denied that.
The Milwaukee Bucks, Atlanta Hawks, & Miami Heat are among the teams interested in Jae Crowder. Crowder could be one of the most sought-after star players leading up to the trade deadline.
Crowder made 36.8% of his three-point attempts with the Suns over the past two seasons. He is completing 10.1 million dollars this season, the final year of his 3-year, 29.1 million dollar deal signed in November ’20.
Teams with Jae Crowder have made the playoffs every season since 2013-2014. He played for seven teams over ten seasons, and his skill set fits almost every roster in the league.
