Top five youngsters to look out for in Bundesliga 2022-23 season

The German top league is now the go-to place for every young prodigy to develop.
Over the past few years, the Bundesliga has developed into the ultimate talent-nourishing forum for young players. In recent years, a group of intergenerational talents has emerged here.
The list includes players like Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham, Alphonso Davies and more. Every season, the roster seems to grow with new additions. A similar phenomenon occurred last year when Christopher Nkunku shocked the world with his stunning performance.

5. Jonathan Burkat (Mainz)

Jonathan Burkat is a striker for Mainz. The 21-year-old has been part of Mainz’s starting lineup for the past two seasons. However, he was not used as a proper striker, mainly playing a second-in-command role as a center or right striker. Last season, Burcart started 32 games and scored 11 goals.

He was Germany’s fourth-highest scorer last season and has been touted as Germany’s next deadly striker. Burkardt is a natural finisher and has already proven his mettle in the Bundesliga. There’s no doubt he’ll be someone to watch next season.

4. Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen)

Jeremie Frimpong was the Bundesliga’s biggest surprise last year. Despite Leverkusen’s disastrous debut season in 2020-21, the Dutch right-back’s comeback was a big event last season. He broke into Leverkusen’s starting line-up and made the right-back position his own.

The Netherlands Under-21 international made 25 starts last season and also provided six assists. After starting his career at Manchester City, Frimpong moved to Celtic before moving to Germany. Expectations are very high for him heading into the 2022-23 season after he showed great potential last season.

3. Josko Gvardiol (RB Leipzig)

Josko Gvardiol was RB Leipzig’s replacement for Dayot Upamecano last season, and he certainly puts on those big shoes with confidence. The Croatian centre-back was rock solid for Die Roten Bullen and displayed enormous authority from the back. Also, Gvardiol can play at left-back, which makes him very versatile.

He made 29 appearances in the Bundesliga last season with a passing accuracy of over 85%. Gvardiol is only 20 years old but has already taken some of the world’s top clubs by surprise. In the near future, some big European clubs have begun to pay attention to his talent. The 20-year-old is sure to become one of the most noteworthy players in all of Europe.

2. Ryan Gravenberch (FC Bayern)

Bayern signed Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberg for 19 million euros this summer after a stellar performance at Ajax. The Ajax starlet emerged as one of the best midfielders in Europe last season, with Bayern getting a real gem at a hefty price. As a trade midfielder, Ryan Gravenburgh will face starting lineup competition from Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich.

The Dutch midfielder is tall, strong and naturally endowed with great stamina. The former Ajax midfielder seems to be a lot like N’Golo Kante, especially when it comes to his game. After a stellar season at Ajax last year, Graven Birch is poised for continued success in German football.

1. Karim Adeyemi (Dortmund)

Karim Adeyemi is entrusted by Dortmund to Erling Haaland’s big shoe next season. The German striker scored 18 goals for Red Bull Salzburg last season. Adeyemi is believed to be the next addition to Dortmund’s impressive line-up of strikers, which includes Robert Lewandowski, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Erling Harland.

Karim Adeyemi has broken into the German national team and is highly regarded by Hans Flick himself. He’s not as physically strong as Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski, but he has a similar clinical finishing touch. Based on his connections to Reus, Bellingham and Brandt, Adeyemi could be a breakthrough player next season.
