What MLB games Prediction today
In the winner-take-all Game 5 of the American League Division Series against the Guardians, the Yankees have confirmed that Nestor Cortes will start for them on Tuesday. The left-hander will do so on short rest.
On Monday night, Jameson Taillon was scheduled to open Game 5, but the match was canceled due to persistent bad weather.
Today at 4 p.m. ET on TBS is ALDS Game 5.
When New York and Cleveland meet for the final match in this series, Cortes will be in the circle. The AL Championship Series will begin on Wednesday in Houston, and the winner will get the opportunity to take on the Astros.
Cortes expressed his desire that the Yankees would give him the ball sometime during Game 5 after Game 4 in the corner of the visiting clubhouse at Progressive Field, even though he would have only had two days of rest.

The rainout offered a third. Cortes has just started a game after three days off in his major league career. He pitched two, and a third innings in a pinch start against the Tigers on September 10, 2019, at Detroit, surrendering four runs (two earned) and six hits.
“I’m all set to leave. The tank will be emptied, Cortes declared on Sunday. “I’m going to try to prepare in between the best I can to feel as great as I can if I have to come back on short rest, whether it’s two or three days.”
Last Friday at Yankee Stadium, the 27-year-old Cortes, an All-Star this year, pitched in Game 2 and had a no-decision in New York’s 4-2 defeat. In five innings and 92 pitches, Cortes limited the Guardians to two runs, six hits, three walks, and three strikeouts. Amed Rosario hit a home run off of him in the fifth inning.
Although manager Terry Francona stated in a pregame interview that right-hander Aaron Civale would still start Game 5 in the case of a rainout, Cleveland has designated their starting pitcher TBD. It raises the chance that right-hander Shane Bieber may be lurking. If Bieber pitched, he would do it after three days off.
Due to Monday’s rainout, whichever club advances to play the Astros in Game 1 of the ALCS on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. will not get their scheduled off-day. ET.
The Yankees general manager Brian Cashman stated, “That was the complete goal and expectation—that we were playing the game tonight. “Both teams desired tonight’s game. Unfortunately, the weather defeated us. It’s challenging because it keeps getting more unexpected. We most definitely did not want spectators to stay here all night. Both of us wanted to play a game, and they wanted to come to watch one.
