Who has scored 80 points in the NBA?
No player scored 90 points in a game, let alone Chamberlain‘s 100-point record.
On March 2, 1962, a perfect combination of various factors caused Chamberlain to hit a triple figure. The overall record of the New York Knicks is 27-46. There is no starting center Phil Jordan, who is listed as suffering from the flu, but is reported to be a hangover.
Chamberlain enjoyed New York’s bench, scoring 100 points (57.1%) on 36 of 63 shots, 28 of 32 shots (87.5%) from the free throw line, grabbing 25 rebounds and shooting two assists.
The Philadelphia Warriors won the game 169-147. The game was neither televised nor had any complete broadcast account to remember.
Whether it is lack of coverage or opponents, a 100-point game may never be reached again.
