Who are the top 10 Best Rookie Season Performances in League History?

During the draft season, every day NBA fans are often bombarded with mock drafts, draft analysis, predictions, question marks, etc.

But the real fun is to check every rookie’s work after his first NBA season, especially the high draft picks.

Of course, not everyone will succeed. But those who did especially those who broke the rules were remembered as rookies forever. They came in, played right away, and swept the league.

10. Hakeem Olajuwon

In 1984, the Houston Rockets in the first round (ahead of Michael Jordan) teamed up with Ralph Sampson, the first overall pick of the previous year, to form the Twin Towers. Olajuwon spent little time in the NBA. Make your mark.

The 22-year-old Olajuwon averaged 35.5 minutes per game in all 82 games in the 1984-1985 season. He scored 20.6 points, 12 rebounds and 2.7 blocks every night.

Olajuwon and Sampson (7-4 power forward) formed a devastating frontcourt combination that led the Rockets to the finals in Olajuwon’s second season.

“Dream” will continue to play for the Rockets for 17 years, winning two championships and one league MVP award.

9. LeBron James

It’s hard to remember any rookie who entered the league. When LeBron came directly from high school to his hometown of Cleveland as the first pick in the 2003 draft, he received much publicity.

LeBron, who was only 19 years old, was forced to play with a group of young players (Carlos Boozer), idiots (Ricky Davis) and the same idiots (Darius Miles). LeBron It shines, averaging 21 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6 assists and 1.6 steals per game. No more than 40 minutes of game time per night.

That year, the Cavaliers only won 35 games. But that was the most victory they have won since 1997. And they became the mainstay of the playoffs in just two years, until The Decision made the city lose its favorite son and LeBron moved to Miami.

8. Tim Duncan

The first overall consensus in the 1997 draft. The only mystery is who will win the lottery and draft Duncan, a four-year starter from Wake Forest University, his old-school game and incredible stability Sex and longevity make him arguably the greatest power forward in the history of the league.

Duncan came to San Antonio and helped the Spurs achieve 56 victories in his rookie season, only 36 more victories than the previous year. In doing so, he averaged 21 points, 12 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game, while playing less than 40 minutes per night.

Not only did Duncan lead the team in rebounds and blocks (only half a point behind scoring champion David Robinson), he also led the Spurs back to the playoffs.

The Spurs lost to Utah in the Western Conference semifinals that year. But next season, Duncan’s second season, will win the first of his four championships.

7. Allen Iverson

A year before they took Iverson away from the Georgetown team, the 76ers performed badly. In 2006-2007, Iverson’s rookie year, they were still terrible.

But Iverson’s performance that season is still not only eye-opening, but also spectacular-and heralds future development.

Iverson stepped forward and played 40 minutes for the 22-win 76ers every night. In fact, they won four more games in Iverson’s rookie season than the previous year.

That year, he averaged 23.5 points and sent 7.5 assists, which was the second-highest assist in his career.

Philadelphia fans didn’t cheer that season. But Iverson’s play undoubtedly gave those fans hope. Only two years later, the 76ers under the leadership of Larry Brown-returned to the playoffs and made an appearance in the 2001 Finals.

6. Larry Bird

When Bird came to the 1979-1980 season, the Celtics were really in a downturn, winning only 61 games in the first two years.

However, this is how much they won in Bird’s rookie season, returning to the playoffs for the first time since 1977. C lost in the 1980 Eastern Conference Finals, but they won the first of three championships in Bird’s second year-1981.

Bird was the Rookie of the Year in 1980, averaging 21.3 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game: he was largely ahead of the same lineup a year ago, and made 32 wins of progress.

This is another dawn in the long history of the Celtic dynasty.

5. David Robinson

Robinson was the No. 1 pick in 1987, but due to his commitment to Navy service, he did not make his NBA debut with the Spurs in the next two years.

When he finally arrived in San Antonio, he hardly missed a beat.

The admiral became a hit in 1989, averaging 24.3 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks per game. More importantly, the Spurs rose from 21 victories in 1988-1989 to 56 victories in 1989-1990.

Robinson has been a force throughout his career with the Spurs, averaging 30 points per game and leading the Spurs to the playoffs for seven consecutive seasons. After the Spurs scored with Duncan, he won two rings at the end of his career.

However, that rookie year changed the fate of the team for ten years.

4. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

The high school and college superstar Kareem then named Lew Alcindor joined the Milwaukee Bucks in 1969 with the highest overall score and entered the NBA where he left UCLA.

In the first of his 20 NBA seasons, Karim dominated the game from the start, averaging 28.8 points and 14.5 rebounds per game as a rookie. He was an easy choice for the rookie of the season and led the Bucks to 56 victories in their second season-29 more than the previous year.

A year later, after the Bucks paired veteran Oscar Robertson with the young Karim, Milwaukee won the championship: in terms of playing time, field goal percentage, field goal percentage and points, the Bucks have a history of the league. Ranked first among the six leading players.

3. Michael Jordan

In the 1984 draft, Jordan’s previous two draft picks were waived by the Rockets and Trailblazers, and then selected by the Bulls. The Bulls are happy to receive these honors.

After all, he will continue to be the greatest player of all time, winning six championships and changing the NBA forever in the process.

There are early signs of his indelible greatness. In his first season away from North Carolina, Jordan played 82 games, averaging 38 minutes per game, scoring 28.2 points, and shooting more than 51% from the field.

The Bulls entered the playoffs for the first time in four years that season, and appeared in the playoffs for the second time in 10 years. With Jordan, they will do this every year of his career and reach the top of the six championships from 1990 to 1998.

2. Wilt Chamberlain

In Wilt’s time, he was so dominant, so powerful, he once averaged 50 points per game.

It wasn’t in his rookie year, but he was close. Chamberlain was drafted by the Philadelphia Warriors out of the University of Kansas in 1959, and immediately took over the NBA.

He scored 37.6 points and corralled 27 rebounds per game that year, his third best statistical season.

That year marked the first of several in which Wilt’s team would lose a playoff series to Bill Russell and the Celtics.

Still, the impression he made so soon after arriving on the NBA scene was one of the biggest of all time.

1. Oscar Robertson

The original Big O, Robertson averaged a triple-double in a single season.

This is not his rookie year, but his second year. Nevertheless, the first season was the greatest rookie season in league history.

Oscar went to the University of Cincinnati and was selected by the Cincinnati Royals with the first overall pick in the 1960 draft.

He will continue to average 30.5 points, 10 rebounds and 9.7 assists per game. Approximately close to a triple double.

In their fourth season after moving from Rochester to Cinsey, the Royals struggled with new excavations after a very successful performance in Western New York. Before the arrival of the Oscars, they made the playoffs once in these four seasons.

Oscar led the Royals-later Kansas City and then Kings-to the playoffs six consecutive times in his first seven years.

With an unreal campaign from 1960 to 1961, Oscar won the Rookie of the Year award.

It has never been better than the first season in the NBA.
